• EqStim immunostimulant is for improving the immune system - Often used to treat lingering respiratory infections.

Active Ingredient(s)

EQSTIM^® is a preparation consisting of 0.4 mg/mL nonviable Propionibacterium acnes suspended in 12.5% ethanol in saline.

Indications

EQSTIM^® is indicated in the horse as an adjunct to conventional therapy in the treatment of Equine Respiratory Disease Complex (ERDC). The product has been demonstrated to be effective in increasing the rate of recovery when used in conjunction with antibiotic or hyperimmune therapy in the treatment of primary and secondary bacterial and viral infections associated with ERDC.

Dosage and Administration

• EQSTIM^® must be administered by the intravenous (I.V.) route.

Shake well to obtain uniform suspension.

Dosage: Foals: 1 mL.

Older horses: 1 mL per 250 lbs body weight.

Repeat the dosage at day 3 (or day 4), at day 7, and weekly as needed.

Contraindication(s)

Do not use in conjunction with glucocorticoids or other immune suppressors. Steroid therapy should be withdrawn at least seven days before initiating this therapy.
