Recommended for support in controlling environmentally induced diarrhea.
Primary Use: DiaGel is an orally administered product which may aid in controlling bacterial diarrhea. DiaGel eliminates bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella which occur naturally in the GI tract.
Causes of bacterial diarrhea may include:
• Foal Stress
• Environmental Changes
• Dietary changes (grain overload)
• Secondary Stress
A one-time administration may firm stools within 24 hours.
Secondary Use: DiaGel may be used in conjunction with fluid therapy, endotoxin therapy, or antibiotics to treat secondary infections associated with other causes of diarrhea.
Pre-Stress Use: DiaGel may be administered 2 hours prior to stress-induced events (racing, showing, trailering, stabling, or foaling) to help reduce the incidence of diarrhea.
Directions for use:
Set the calibration ring on the syringe plunger according to the weight usage requirement. To administer, place the syringe between the side teeth of the horse, aiming as far down on the back of the tongue as possible. Gently push the plunger to release the gel.
Usage: Referencing the appropriate use, administer DiaGel according to the horse’s weight:
10 ml - Newborn to 120 pounds
15 ml - 121 to 250 pounds
20 ml - 251 to 500 pounds
30 ml - 501+ pounds
Primary Use: Administer the recommended amount by weight for bacterial diarrhea in the GI tract. Most horses respond in 12 hours with the majority of horses responding in 24 hours or less. If necessary, double the usage for the initial administration. If additional administrations are necessary, use the recommended amount by weight every 6 hours for up to 3 days.
Secondary Use: Administer the recommended amount by weight every 12 hours for up to 5 days.
Pre-Stress Use: Administer the recommended amount by weight 2 hours prior to stress induced event. Repeat as necessary by weight every 12 hours for up to 5 days.
