Cephalexin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic available as
capsules or as suspension used to treat bacterial infections. Cephalexin is an antibiotic that belongs to a class of drugs called cephalosporins that fight bacteria in the body. It also aids in treating bronchitis as well as various infections including: ear, skin, urinary tract, respiratory tract, bone and joint. Cephalexin can also be used for purposes other than those listed.
Give this medication as directed by your veterinarian. Cephalexin may be administered to your pet with or without food, depending on upset stomach. If your pet has allergic reactions to this medication including: shortness of breath, hives, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, rash or fainting, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mucus or blood in the stool, or unusual bleeding or bruising, stop giving cephalexin, and see your veterinary immediately.
Before you administer Cephalexin to your pet, let your vet know if your dog or cat is on any other medications for the same or a different infection.
