Description
Tacrolimus ointment is a topical drug (a drug that is applied to the skin) that is used for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (eczema). Atopic dermatitis is a chronic (long-lasting) disease of the skin in which the skin becomes inflamed, causing itchiness, redness, swelling, cracking, weeping, crusting, and scaling.
Dosage
Apply twice daily. See package insert for dosage information.
Storage
Store at room temperature 25ºC (77ºF); excursions permitted to 15º-30ºC (59º-86ºF).
Caution
Tacrolimus is generally only recommended for topical use. DO NOT USE IN EYES.
Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects
Side effects are rare, but may include slight irritation of the eyes. Extreme reactions may be the result of an allergic response to the drug. Signs of an allergic reaction may include vomiting, seizures, hives and swelling around the face.
