Recombitek KC2 Vaccine for Dogs

Description

Recombitek KC2 Vaccine for Dogs is designed to protect healthy dogs from canine upper respiratory infections, such as Kennel Cough caused by canine parainfluenza (CPIV) and Bordetella bronchiseptica. It was approved before current regulations required a minimum age for use. 
Recombitek® KC2 offers a convenient intranasal vaccination for rapid protection against Kennel Cough. It targets common pathogens responsible for this condition, which affects the trachea and bronchi, often spreading quickly in confined environments like kennels and pet stores. The vaccine contains avirulent strains of the pathogens, allowing safe nasal administration with minimal risk of disease. Some dogs may experience mild, temporary symptoms like sneezing or nasal discharge for up to 10 days post-vaccination. Persistent or worsening symptoms should be reviewed by a veterinarian.

 

Directions and Dosage

• For a 0.5 mL dose: Mix the vaccine powder with 0.5 mL of sterile diluent.
• For a 1 mL dose: Mix the vaccine powder with 1 mL of sterile diluent.
• Shake well and use immediately.

Field studies confirm the safety of this vaccine for puppies from 3 weeks of age. Use aseptic techniques to withdraw the rehydrated vaccine into the syringe and apply it intranasally using the provided applicator tip. Use a new tip for each dog. Annual revaccination has traditionally been recommended, but the necessity for yearly boosters has not been confirmed. Consult your veterinarian or the manufacturer for guidance on revaccination intervals.

Precautions

Store out of direct sunlight at 35-46°F (2-8°C). Do not freeze. For intranasal use in dogs only. This vaccine is not to be injected. Do not mix with other products, except as specified on the label. Do not vaccinate puppies under 3 weeks of age.

 

Additional Precautions

• In case of severe reactions: Administer epinephrine.
• Pregnancy: The vaccine’s safety in pregnant animals has not been evaluated.
• Human Exposure: Seek medical advice if contact occurs. Dispose of unused vaccine properly.
